Blood, Guts, and Halloween Gore

So...........
I come home last night from work
in time to kiss Mr. M and wish him a good night.
(He was working a graveyard shift.)

It was going to be my son, Shuga and me all night.
I was settling in, doing normal household activities
(opening a package of sausage for Shuga....)
when I look down and see blood........
EVERYWHERE!!!!!!!!

Apparently, I've cut my finger....like the tip of it........almost off.

(Shuga's having a field day licking the blood off of the floor....ewww.)

I call Mr.M who says go to the ER.
What?!?!?!
I just left there...I'm not going back.

(I'm an ER nurse for all of you who are new to reading my blog.)

(Shuga is still following me around...licking blood off the floor.)
As hard as I try, I just can't get the bleeding to stop
(nor can I get my dog to stop either....geeesh.)
So.......
I now have this.

Nice, huh??

It is kind surreal to be a patient where you work.
I knew exactly what was going to happen and what
I needed to do, but it just didn't come to mind at the time.

Supah doopah thanks to Monica,
Nure Practitioner and girlfriend
for hooking....errr sewing me up!!!

(I kept the pics fuzzy for the weak stomachs out there
You REALLLLY don't want a close up, trust me.)

With my new booboo in tow,
I will be off for a few days to get ready
for my big Halloween party.
I will be posting pics and all the gory details
first of next week.

I do want to say "THANK YOU"
from the bottom of my heart
for all of the bloggy love
ya'll have shown me.
Ya'll are the best!!!!!
Spread the madness... there's still time to enter my giveaway!!!
I'm off to nurse my finger
and find some holy water
for my vampire dog.

Happy Haunting!!!

Boo!!!!!! Right Back At Cha........

I've been BOO'd!!!!!

Not in a bad way
(like if you bomb at the Apollo theatre)

but by Mindy with Primitiques and Poetry.

It got me to thinking........
I have a lot of "boo"tiful things around the house for Halloween.

(corny...I know...I couldn't help it.....sorry.)

It started with this little lady that was sitting at my back door in an urn.
She didn't want anything extravagant
and being carved with sharp objects
did NOT sound like her idea of a good time.
So, I added a simple mask and she was good to go.

Such a diva!!!!
She insisted I shoot her from her best side....geeesh.

My front door showed off it's normal Radio Flyer
and greenery basket, but I noticed that my pumpkin friend
had invited a few relatives.

This fella wanted to stay incognito
(since he's so popular this time of year and all...)

There ALWAYS has to be someone
that just HAAAASSSS to be different
(and difficult...sigh.)
Apparently, this one just couldn't stand
the thought of wearing what everyone else
had on.....
(Who knew pumpkins could be so demanding?)
He got a glittered "BOO" sign and now everybody's happy.

Mindy was so sweet to "Boo" me and present this spell for me to work my bloggy magic....

You Have Been BOO'd The air is cool, the season is fall,Soon Halloween will come to all. Ghosts and goblins, spooks galore...Tricky witches at your door. The spooks are after things to do,In fact, a spook brought this "BOO" to you. The excitement comes when friends like you,Copy this note and make it two. We'll all have smiles on our faces,When we see who Boo'd who's places

I now have to "Boo" four other friends in return.

Grabbing my wand...
(wait..that's a fairy....)

Breaking out my crystal ball...
(hold on...that's a gypsy...shheeesh.)

Okay...Pulling out my cauldron and black cat.
(Finally!!)

Lilia with 2 Brown Eyed Beauties

Polly with Sassafrass Stuff

Leann with The Vintage Laundry

2 chippys

Okay....let's keep this going and see how far it reaches in blog world.

PSSSST!!!!!

I Get By With aLittle Help from my Friends..

See this gorgeous lady?

(hint: she's the one in the hat)
That's Anne of Fiona and Twig.
I had the most awesome pleasure of chatting with her on the phone.
Okay...we were really like two teenagers talking a mile a minute
only to be interrupted when she  accidentally disconnected me or I accidentally disconnected her.
(not on purpose, though....)

I already have Adrienne who is my junking twin
and now I have a triplet!!!!!
Anne and I have so many identical loves
and ambitions and dreams,
it's scarrrrrrrrry.

Anne is an awesome soul
and has an amazing spirit.
We probably could have talked for hours
but life happens and we had to get back to the real world.
(not before planning a junking escapade )

Anne is just an example of the many superb peeps
that I have come to know and love
through my blog.

Ya'll are an amazing and super talented force and I am
humbled just to be in your presence.

Go by Anne's blog and check her out!!!!
If you're in Kerrville, she has a shop too!

Bubble, Bubble, Toil and Trouble

As my party plans are becoming finalized,
I've decided to turn my attention to more decorating for Halloween.
Tabatha, my beautiful hutch that I rescued,
asked if she could come to the party too.
I told her of course but that she would need to have a costume.
Tabatha immediately informed me that she wanted to
attend the party as a Witch's Cupboard.

I started her transformation with many items
that I found around the house.

I decked Tabatha in the finest Witchery I could
including a cast iron cauldron.
No witch in her right mind would be caught without one.

She needed several necessary ingredients for spell casting
such as decomposing mushrooms
picked from my enchanted backyard.

Several poisoned fruits
that were neatly canned for the giving.

Poisoned apples are a staple in witch's pantry.
(My seven year old thought these were the coolest)

Bones and skulls for grinding.

Bottles of poisons and elixirs
(including Patron..witch's need to relax too.)

I added architectural elements as well
since Tabatha and I both love architectural finds.
A glass jar holds the doorknobs
to the closets of little children.....spooky.

A witch gotta have friends too...
like this lil fella.

A cute little crow to keep a witch company
and announce visitors.

( He gets on her nerves though. All he ever says is "Nevermore")

Tabatha thinks she needs some security
to protect all of her witchy goodies
so she hired this big guy to stand guard.

Tabatha's all ready for her Halloween debut.
I love the eerie look she has now and she is more
thrilled with her new do.

Baby Steps....sigh

I can't begin to tell ya'll the way my heart feels right now.
I  can feel the fluttering in my stomach even as we speak.
From this day forward, my life will never be the same
as Mr. M and I embark on a new journey together.

Mr. M keeps assuring me everything will be okay.
I am so nervous that I can barely breathe.

I already know where your mind is going........
You might as well turn it around and drive it down  another road.

The Divine Mr. M has finally convinced me
to open my own business and peddle my wares.
I will not be in a brick and mortar (yet)
but I will starting taking my junk....errrrr....antiques
to shows, including Warrenton in the fall
and will be opening my Etsy shop next month.

Mr. M is my greatest fan and my biggest supporter.
He doesn't believe there is nothing that I can't do and I love him for that.
After all, he's the one who told me to start my own blog.
I have to say that it has truly changed my life.

I would have never believed that I would meet so many
amazing and talented women.
I would have never dreamt that in two months,
I would have almost a hundred followers
and over 17,000 visitors to see what I have to say
and that this tiny blog in blogland would lead me to one of my greatest passions
(besides Mr. M. )

I can only hope and pray that the love that ya'll have shown me
will continue to flow with my new endeavor.
Mr. M is out right now, even as I type, buying me a travel trailer
so that I can have somewhere to lay my head while on the road.
(see why I love him so.)

He has this crazy faith in us ....
I'm just trying to take baby steps as I spread my wings and fly
without divebombing to my death.

So, please be on the lookout for "Six-n-One"
my new store.
And if you see my at a flea market
or antique show, please feel free to stop by
and offer me a paper bag to keep my
hyperventilating to a minimum.

We Interrupt This Blog.....

For a proud Mommy moment.......

This is my son Alexander.
(He just wants to be called "Alex." He thinks it's cooler that way...whatever.)
My baby is now a senior in high school
and will be graduating in May.

I am sooo proud of my son.
He is going to pursue a degree in the arts, specializing in photography.
It's been an amazing journey these last seventeen years.
I am speechless at his growth into a man.
It really does seem like yesterday when he was just born
and I held him in my arms, scared to death about our future.
I remember being soo worried on his first day of school,
when he learned to ride a bike,
and hoping he remembered all of his manners on his first date.

I look at him now and I'm still worried.
I worry that he will pick the right school,
finish his degree, find the right girl
but most importanly,
I worry that the he will still remember all of the life lessons
I and my family have taught him
and that he will still use good manners for the future firsts in his life.

Alex, I just want you to know that you are one of my most shining moments
in my life.
I am so very proud of you and all that you've done.
Keep up the good work kiddo
and don't forget your manners.

To any mom who might be reading this.....
love your children always
and don't look over the little things
because your children won't stay little for long.

Something Wicked This Way Comes....

With Halloween around the corner, I thought that it was time to decorate.
I will be hosting a party for my girls
and an all night "Monster Movie Mash"
for all of my neices and  my children.
Every year, I have a theme for my movie fest.
This year, I decided to go with
"Haunted Mansion".

I started with the mantle.

I was going for an old, abandoned house feel.
A house not touched in decades.
I was going for more eery than scary.
Cause really....how many light up, creepy laughing things
can you use?
I used thrifty items from around the house or thrifty finds.
The candlesticks were once brass that I painted in
flat black spray paint.
(Flat is very awesome for old and creeeeeepy.)
I've had the white pumpkins forever.

I decided to go for things that just naturally give you the creeps
or give you a chill down your spine.
The best part is everything was very budget friendly.
This antique pic of the child praying is normally sweet and innocent
but when I paired it with spider webs and spanish moss
it creeped Mr. M out....big time.

I added some frosted shot glasses I found at GW.
I added the stickers to say "Boo."
I try to add a touch of whimsy in everything I do.

I found this  old book on psychological disorders
at an estate sale.
How keewwwl!
Throw in a few eight legged friends and you have
creepiness galore!

I will be adding pics as I continue my halloween decorating.
Next up will be my "Witches Corner".

Grab a friend and hold on tight
because something wicked this way comes.........

I was kinda disappointed with the givewaway turnout....
(Matter of fact...I'm a little bummed.)
Only 3 people entered and one was anonymous.

It's like throwing a party and nobody shows up...
(So I've heard...My parties are a blast and people always show up..until today.)
Sniff....Sniff.

More Junky Goodness

I'm off to work for a few shifts in the ER and won't be posting for a few days.... sigh.
I thought I'd leave ya'll with a few pics from Warrenton.

The booths were fab-u-lous...okay, some were a hot mess
but my mama told me if I can't say something nice,
don't say anything at all.

I'm only gonna be nice here.... *SMILE*

Donna's booth Reborn Rubbish was simply genius!
Her eye for color and texture made me lightheaded.

There were fields and fields of junk and antique goodness!
The Divine Mr. M simply smiled as I squealed like a ten year old
when I saw all of this junky awsome-ness!

I would have loved to get these for my Father in Law...

Campbell's was one of the few
and I mean feeeeeeewwwwww
places that had somewhere to rest your feet and your booty.

This table setting was soooo pretty at Campbell's.

Carol Westbrook Home...need I say more?
Mr. M had to push my mouth closed again.

Rusty and packed with treasures.

I wish everyone could have gone  to Warrenton
and I wish I could have stayed longer.
I definitely plan on coming back for the spring show
and this time hitting Marburger Farms for sure!!!
Thanks to everyone that I met and all the vendors who
gave their all so that we pickers could stare at you ,
touch all of your stuff, and leave pools of drool on the ground in your tent....
IT WAS SOOOO WORTH IT!!!!

Cuz I've Got Friends in Junky Places

Here I am in Warrenton!!!
Bright eyed, bushy tailed, and cute as a button!
(Notice the curled hair, makeup, and fading tan lines )
I had my trusty cart with my  number 6 and my few essentials and I was ready to go!
The Divine Mr. M was just as thrilled
(he mighta been faking but he smiled the whole time!!!!)

We all know about the great junk that's at Warrenton and Round Top
but did you know about the even greater vendors?
Me neither!!!!
As excited as I was to go shopping
(I've already earned my black belt. Mr. M has just moved up to his yellow belt in shopping.)
I really wanted to meet all of the spectacular people
who pour their heart and soul
(as well as their junky goodness)
into this event.

Most vendors were kind and smiled,
but there were the rare exceptions.
You know...the folks that say "Hey!" instead of "hello"
and talk to you like you're family instead of a stranger.

This was the case with Mark and Jo Moss of Greenfish Antiques.
They had some awesome stuff and a cute dog to boot.
He wasn't for sale and Mr. M would have murdered me
if I brought home another dog.
I did purchase some vintage eyeglass lenses
that I am using for project (show ya that later..)

Meet E.
E is of "E and Company"
all the way from Dublin Texas.
E was in really good company with her husband and her mom.
Now, I don't know about you but my mama is seventy-nine years old
and I can tell you there is NOOOOO way she would have
sat with me in that Texas heat......none what so ever.
E sold me the most amazing sewing machine in all its rusty glory.
(P.S.....I LURVE rust!!!! It makes my heart melt.)
I regret that I didn't buy two instead of one...sigh.

I made my way to the side of the marketplace and met Donna.
Donna is the proprietor and genius behind
Reborn Rubbish.
Donna takes architectural salvage from New Orleans
and gives it new life.
She also carries clothing from Bayou Salvage clothing.
Sheer genius.
Donna said she's trying to let people know that
"you can help the environment. You don't have to wear hemp
and not shave your armpits to do so."
Soooooo true.

I was saving the best for last when I got to Zapp Hall.
(notice the hair is no longer curled and the makeup is running..)
Here she is ya'll!!!
The infamous queen!!
Debbie of Talking Trash!!!
Her booth was to diiiiiiiiee for!!!
We immediately began hugging and talking like long lost friends.
She is such a hoot.

The Cat Daddy himself!!!
Enough said.....
(sorry for my falling tank strap...apparently I was quite the floosey.)

The next day I had to make my way back to a booth I had seen the previous morning.
This gem ..(and I'm talking DIAMOND ladies...no topaz here)
belonged to Brian and Melony Russell
Once again I forgot pics...I was too busy wiping drool from my chin.
(Mr. M actually told me to close my mouth before flys got in.)
Brian was the greatest!
He answered all of my silly questions and was so kind.
His booth was my favorite. It just made me go gaga.

After walking for hours upon hours and suffering blistered feet,
(Notice the tan line is almost gone?  That's because I was BURNED...like BACON!)
I finally got to paaarrrtaaay!
Theresa Cano of Garden Antiques Vintage
hosted a blog party and it was fabulous!!
I got to meet so many of my bloggy friends and make new ones as well.

There was great food, great wine, and awesome conversation.

Pointing out where some more great junk could be found.

The wonderful Teresa of Attic Rat
was such a joy to talk to.

Leann Stephenson a.k.a. The Vintage Laundress.
The two of us just chatted away.

Lauri of the 2 Chippys.
I was so awed that she reads my blog.
Suh-weet!!!!!

As I was talking with the Divine Mr. M,
this very beautiful lady walked up to me and said,
"Excuse me? I know your face. Do you have a blog?"
For about 5.9 seconds I felt special.
Somebody recognized little ol me and my blog!!!
Meet Adrienne of The Flying Bee.

I believe that we just might be junking sisters
separated at birth....even though I already have a twin.
She is the absolute sweetest and has the cutest blog.
Be sure to check her out!!!

The man of the hour was of course
Stan Williams of The Elegant Thrifter.
He was signing his new book The Find.
(Sorry for the bad pic.)

The junk at Warrenton was amazing but the friends that I made there was priceless!!!!!

PSSSSST!!!!! Don't forget to check out my giveaway!!!!!
There's still time!!!
